“Mongolia is currently ranking second behind Germany in terms of the percentage of its nationals repatriated from abroad compared to the entire population,” the National Emergency Commission has reported. The country of three million has evacuated a total of 8,498 its nationals from 30 countries; equivalent to around 0.27 percent of its population. The statistics cover the period between 28 January and 19 May.
The report says Germany has repatriated around 240,000 of its nationals from foreign countries, which is 0.28 percent of its population. The list of countries that have so far evacuated the highest percentage of their populations from abroad goes on to include France, Russia, Turkey, Australia, South Korea, UK, USA, Pakistan, Canada, Japan and India with the percentage of people repatriated in each of their population ranging between 0.001% and 0.22%.
Mongolia’s evacuation flights started on 3 February with 31 students from coronavirus-ground zero in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
